The populations of Asia and Africa have been growing at a breakneck pace and new agricultural and agri-food powers are emerging (Brazil, Eastern Europe) to meet this need, in part, through the professionalization of their agri-food systems. Asia is industrializing and changing the balance of power with the West and the United States in particular. Market dynamics are changing, and business benchmarks are not what they used to be. This conference presents an updated picture of the world trade scene for the main food commodities (field crops and livestock production) and highlights the rise of certain countries that are now influencing trade flows and conquering new markets.
